How to Help Atlanta Restaurants Right Now

Amber RandhawaGiving Back, What's Happening Around Atlanta

Ordering delivery and carryout from your favorite Atlanta restaurant is not just your only option for enjoying their delicious meals right now, it’s also the best way you can help them stay afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic and required social distancing measures. We cannot urge our readers enough to continue supporting local businesses, but there are additional things you can do to help them stick around so we can all enjoy a great local meal in Atlanta’s best dining rooms once this is all over.

Eater magazine recently posted an article that compiles many different ways you can help in addition to simply ordering to-go meals. Some of the suggestions on the list we’ve already mentioned here, such as purchasing gift cards to be used later when things are back to normal, taking advantage of curbside delivery, and donations to The Giving Kitchen. Here are a few more ideas the article mentions:

  • Purchase Merch – Does your favorite restaurant sell t-shirts, cookbooks or coffee mugs? Ask where the proceeds are going. Many Atlanta bars and restaurants are using merchandise proceeds to raise money for local charities, or as a fund for their laid off workers.
  • Donate to a Staff Fundraiser – Many local establishments have set up funds for their employees who are out of work or have had their hours reduced. There’s even a searchable database called Relief Atlanta you can use to see which restaurants have a fund set up for donations.
  • Send a Tip – Another database has been set up for you to find your favorite server or bartender directly to send them a “tip” from home. Visit TIPSYATL to search for a restaurant or specific staff member to send money digitally.
