For many of us in Atlanta, Easter is the official sign that spring is here and summer is on it’s way! This weekend may not be the warmest Easter on record, but the skies will be clearing and we all want to head outdoors and celebrate. Are you looking for the perfect egg hunt and Easter bunny encounter to keep the Easter magic alive for your kids?  Or perhaps you’re in the mood for a delicious brunch set against a beautiful skyline backdrop, or a bucket list way to celebrate the religious tradition of the holiday.  Read on for our suggestions for great Easter events going on around town!


Avondale Estates Easter Egg Hunt and Dog Parade

Why let the kids have all the Easter fun? Starting at 10am the children’s egg hunts begin, with four age categories and eggs filled with toys, candy and a few special prize tokens. If your children are of the furrier variety, head over to the dog parade while the hunts are taking place. Costumes for the dogs are encouraged but not required, and prizes will be given out for Best Behaved, Best Costume, Best Owner/Dog Duo, Most Spirited/Enthusiastic.

Callanwolde Eggstravaganza

Saturday morning Callanwolde Fine Arts Center plays host to a family friendly egg hunt and Easter festival in their beautiful spring gardens! There will be four separate egg hunts by age group, with thousands of candy filled eggs. The Easter Bunny will be making an appearance, and there will be face painting, crafts, and kids’ dance floor complete with a DJ spinning their favorite tunes. Step inside to the bar for snacks, coffee and mimosas!

Natural Egg Dying at the Atlanta Botanical Garden

In this interactive program, kids will learn about plants that contain powerful dyes, and how to create stunning colors with no need for store bought dyes! Each participant will then decorate three vibrantly colored eggs to take home.

Park Tavern Easter Brunch

Enjoy a delightful Easter Brunch overlooking Piedmont Park and the Atlanta skyline. You’ll find the Easter Bunny hopping about for pictures, and an Easter egg hunt with prizes will take place at noon. This is one of Park Tavern’s most popular and beloved annual events!

When: Sunday, April 21st, 10am-4pm (last seating is at 2:30pm)

Stone Mountain Easter Sunrise Service

The Stone Mountain Sunrise Association presents it’s 75th annual Easter Sunrise Service, with two simultaneous, inter-denominational Easter services, one at the top of the mountain and the other at the base of the mountain on the Memorial Lawn. Park gates open at 3am and the Summit Skyride will open at 4am to begin taking guests to the summit for the 7am service. However, for many Atlantans, the magic of the sunrise service begins with the 1 mile hike to the top.
